We arrived in Puerto Ingeniero Ibáñez and learned there is no ferry today to cross Lago General Carrera to Chile Chico. Lago General Carrera is the largest lake in Chile. The lake is shared by Chile and Argentina, however in Argentina it goes by the name Lago Buenos Aires. We’ll catch the 10am ferry tomorrow to continue south. I feel like much of our time these days is spent riding ferries, waiting for ferries or trying to buy tickets for ferries.
The wind became really aggressive as we neared the lake. While at the tourist information center we asked about the wind direction on the Chile Chico side of the lake. Her response, a vague “It depends”. We can’t seem to get anything more specific from the locals we talk to. We’re in an inlet now and the wind is knock-you-off-your-bike strong. I can’t imagine what it will be like when the lake opens up and we’re fully exposed. We’re crossing our fingers (and our toes for good measure) it’s in our favor tomorrow!
