We came into San Ignacio to restock and get cash, we need some Peruvian Nuevo Soles. We were parked on a side street while Scott made some repairs to his brakes when Leah walks by. Leah is a solo cyclist from the States, headed south to Ushuaia like us. We’ve now had three chance encounters where we’ve bumped into each other on the road. The first two times (in Colombia and Ecuador) we were going in different directions.
I think the universe is trying to tell us something – we’re supposed to hang out. While we hadn’t planned on staying in San Ignancio, it’s not every day that we meet up with other cyclists. To sweeten the deal she found a hotel with wifi that only costs 15 soles ($5.50 USD). We haven’t yet properly celebrated our Peru border crossing, so we stayed and all raised a beer to another border. And then we ate a lot of quinoa. Because nothing says you’ve made it to Peru like a mountain of quinoa.
