The rain came in droves and woke me up. I was grateful to hear it pounding a roof instead of our rain fly. I drifted back to sleep, happy to be a guest of Hernando.
Hernando, is a cycle tourist himself, and knows exactly what a fellow traveller needs. As a WarmShowers host, he invites traveling cyclists to stay, relax and recharge, while he fixes up tasty meals, coffee and hot coco (he has a restaurant, Asado Combio, on the property next to the house).
Hernando’s place was too inviting to leave, and he did not have to twist our arms too far to declare it a rest day.
In the morning we said farewell to Kevin from Ireland, who arrived shortly after us the night before. It turns out he is best mates with Brenden, who we met in Bodega Dunes State Park in California. Kevin plans to catch up and meet Brendan at the equator.
We spent the rest of the day doing laundry, drinking excellent Colombian coffee doing some minor repairs but mostly relaxing, reading, writing and even managed to sneak in a nap.
There is a 10000+ foot (3000+ m) climb ahead of us tomorrow so we are tremendously grateful to Hernando for providing us a great place for a little rest and relaxation.
