We arrived in Frontier Corazol. Heather was rested but Sarah and I were running on fumes after a sleepless night. We were fortified by some strong coffee and the prospect of visiting some reportedly impressive ruins.
We managed to find another set of tourists to share the cost of the boat ride to Yaxchilán and shortly found ourselves motoring downstream.
Unlike the throng of tourists at Palenque, Yaxchilán only had a handful of people wandering the site. Additionally, it was serene except for the howler monkeys. Enjoy the pictures.
There are several original lintels on site with narrative stone reliefs carved into them.
Yaxchilán is also known for its large monolithic carved steles.
