It’s raining again today. We are in a rainforest so it’s not like we didn’t expect some rain, but I’d hate to be here in the rainy season if this is the not rainy season.
It’s not the rain, per say, that we don’t like. It’s the inability to dry out afterwards that is the hardship while biking. Things quickly develop mildew and a funky musty smell. Think stinky bath towels, but 100 times worse. Right now our shoes are the worst offenders. They’ve been wet for a week. They smell worse than our tent, which for reference, smells a little like a dead fish.
At least I am feeling better though. I ended up getting really dehydrated yesterday, to the point I could barely stay awake. It reminded me of the time we were severely dehydrated outside Las Vegas. After 1 liter of rehydration salts though, I was a new person. That stuff tastes disgusting, but WOW, it works!
During a break in the rain, Heather and I went on the hike Scott went on yesterday to the viewpoint over the Santo Domingo River. Along the way we saw this interesting knobby tree. Otherwise, we spent the day relaxing and eating, catching up on missed calories.
