Today is all about just getting the miles done. No time for photos and lallygagging. We want to take a day off tomorrow and go for a boat ride in the Sumidero Canyon. We’re 83 miles away, over windy mountainous terrain, and we’ve decided to make it in one day.
We stop in the last town before the highway and get a second breakfast and pick up sandwich fixins for lunch because we’ve learned there’s no food stalls once we’re on the highway.
After 7.5 hours with our butts in the saddle, we make it to our destination, Chiapa de Corzo, just as the sun is setting. We find a hotel, grab some dinner, and check out the plaza decorated for Christmas.
Cheers to Madalyn D! Thanks for the donation and the beer! We celebrate our arrival and get in the holiday spirit with some limited edition Noche Buena beer. Noche Buena, Spanish for Christmas Eve and also the name for poinsettias.
