We woke up this morning warm and dry. What a difference 4500 feet of elevation makes! The fact we camped under a bridge helped keep us dry because the dew didn’t get to us. Not the most scenic of camp spots but we didn’t have to wait for the tent to dry so we’re on the road before 8am.
The mountains we came down off of yesterday stand like a wall behind us, but veiled in the smog from Mexico City. Within 25 miles we cross into another Mexican state, Puebla, the air clears and we’re treated to a nice ride through beautiful countryside and sweeping vistas.
After being on the road for four days, both of us are craving a shower. We’ve covered close to 50 miles when we pass through a town offering clean rooms with wi-fi for 130 pesos ($10)….but no toilet seat. We’re still trying to figure out the mystery of the missing toilet seats. Budget hotels are not the only place they’re missing. Is it a cost or cleanliness issue? I guess our legs will get a a little pre-bike workout in the morning. Still, it’s an offer we can’t turn down.
