After 10 days of being on the bikes, we’re taking a day off in the tiny town of Mulegé. The town is set back from the Sea and is famous for its great fishing. It is also home to a collection of expatriates.
We take a walk out along the water, but after 15 minutes we’re sweating, wondering why we’re out in the sun when we have a hotel room with air conditioning. Our hotel room isn’t much, but it’s clean, and has four walls and a roof. The novelty of being outside wore off long ago. We are so rarely inside, we no longer take this simple luxury for granted.
We decide to explore the town’s culinary offerings instead and then return to the comforts of our room and the shade of the lime tree outside our door.
