The last time we actively sought a nice place to sleep we found a pleasant drainage ditch. Subsequently we were discovered by a kind lady who most likely thought she discovered a few bodies.
With the sun setting quickly, we found a nice fixer-upper with a large rock painted like a frog in the front yard.
After a brief reconnoiter, we decided to make it our home away from home (which is a bit odd to say since we’re homeless) for the night. An unfortunate fire apparently cleared out the previous occupants. This happened some time ago, based on the size of the tree growing out of the bathroom.
In short order, we hung up some laundry that was not dry from the previous evening’s washing, cooked dinner and enjoyed our meal with a view of the sunset over the valley below.
The downside of the fire was that we did not have a roof for the night. However, it did give us a spectacular view of the stars through the mesh of our tent roof. The concrete floor provided a welcome flat spot, something that comes as a premium when looking for a site to camp.
