Today was one of those uninspiring in-between days. We’re between two great places: Redwood National Park & Humboldt Redwoods State Park. Unfortunately the space between is not so great. The 101 turns into a divided highway as if recognizing the importance of moving people as fast a possible to the next place. We stop in the small towns along the way to refuel, each time having strange encounters with folks clearly tweaked out on something. Not wanting to linger long, we press on.
The vistas are beautiful but fleeting.
We did come across two breweries today: Six Rivers & Redwood Curtain. Redwood Curtain is a nano brewery. They don’t bottle or distribute so a visit to the brewery is the only way to sample their offerings. While Scott enjoyed the beer I checked out the food truck. Both were the best part of our day.
At the end of the day our only campground option was a KOA. Not feeling ambition enough to cowboy camp we decided to stay. They’re not our first choice for a number of reasons, but at the top of my list is: Camp is spelled with a “C” people, not a “K”. I have the same sentiment toward the Chick-fil-A adds. There are enough bad spellers out there (myself included), we don’t need media reinforcement.
