We roll by the bank sign in town and it reads 104 degrees. Ugg. We had hoped by coming north we would avoid this heat, but it appears we have brought it with us. We are suffering along with the rest of the country in this heatwave. The day is spent trying to stay cool (we took a dip in the Missouri River) and hydrated (multiple stops for cold drinks), while riding into a piping hot headwind. It is not the best of times.
This heat is for the birds.
We are excited though to meet up again with our friend, Gerald, from Austria. We originally met Gerald in Yellowstone and have been crossing paths ever since as we are all headed in the Missoula direction. He has been riding his bicycle around the US since February when he arrived in Dallas, Texas. Gerald too, appreciates cold beer at the end of a long hot day, so he and Scott get along just fine.
