Growing up, my neighbors had a horse named Utah. I didn’t understand at the time why a horse would be named after a state. He was a red sorrel quarter horse. He was the color of the red rocks of Utah.
We had a short, pleasant ride today on bike paths to Snow Canyon State Park.
The scenery was strikingly colorful as we rode through lava flows and sandstone cliffs. We are in the Red Cliffs Desert Reserve, which was established to protect the desert tortoise and its habitat. I would be SO excited to see one of these tortoises in the wild!
We ate 2lbs of strawberries today. The market in town is running a special, 99 cents per pound. They were delicious (as was the beer)!
