We woke early today to beat the wind and make haste toward Las Vegas. We need to cover 85 miles on highway 93 to make it to Boulder City which will put us just a short ride to Vegas on Sunday morning.
Highway 93 is a lonely, yet scenic road. We pass only a couple of service stations along the way.
We pass our 2000 mile mark in the Lake Mead National Recreation Area on the way to the Hoover Dam.
I was disappointed to find that I would not be riding my bike over the Hoover Dam, due to the bypass bridge completed in 2010. I was able to snap a quick picture from the bridge, briefly ignoring the signs that insist you do NOT stop on the bridge.
Crossing into Nevada, we crawled into Boulder City hot and exhausted, having done quite a bit of climbing up from the dam. Tonight we are staying with David, a WarmShowers host, who greeted us with cold beers and a delicious BBQ, just what we needed after the long day – THANK YOU David!!!
