We spent the first part of the day putting the finishing touches on yesterday’s project and reassembling the bikes. Yesterday Scott took a power drill to his laptop and a blow torch to the bikes, neither of which seemed like a good idea to me at the time. I spent most of the day holding my breath and biting my tongue. But this is one of the things I love about Scott, he can fix just about anything. It’s like I married Macgyver’s cousin. I played the important roles of snack wench, tool fetcher and for a brief time I was the dremel tool operator. This was not my forte so I was downgraded to a piece of sandpaper.
Later in the afternoon we headed over to our friends Rick and Jessie’s house for a get-together with a group of friends that Scott has known since he moved to Austin in 1997. It was great to catch up with everyone one more time before we head west again on Monday.
Rich made his signature dessert: blow torch inflamed sugared bananas. Instant hit with the kids. Recipe: Cut banana in half lengthwise, lay on cookie sheet, sprinkle with sugar, employ blow torch until sugar caramelizes.
You know it’s been a good party when you have to hose the kids off before they’re allowed back in the house.
THANKS GUYS – WE’LL MISS YOU!!
